Welcome to Keeko’s first “Don’t Forget Your Keeko Toothbrush (DFYKT)” travel blog series, whilst not being daggy like the “Getaway” shows of the early 90s. Here at Keeko our staff travel far and wide but one thing we never forget to bring is our luxurious, award-winning, biodegradable (less footprint) OG Brush. We will bring along our expert/local tips for each special destination in our hearts, so you can get inspired by the wonderful adventures that our world holds. Starting this month with our very own backyard Bondi Beach Australia.
Unveiling Bondi: Beyond the Waves ☀️
Sun-drenched sands meet crystal blue waves 🌊, and the energy is equal parts chill and electric ⚡️. Bondi isn't just a destination — it's a full-blown vibe.
1. Sunrise Serenity at Ben Buckler Point 🌅
Start your day the Bondi way — early, salty, and spiritual. Grab a coffee to go at bRU coffee and head up to Ben Buckler Point, the northern tip of Bondi, for a sunrise that doesn't need a filter 📸. Watch surfers paddle out in silhouette, and if you're lucky, dolphins might make a cameo 🐬. Go to the famous North Bondi outdoor gym and laugh at or join in with the topless locals whilst they do their exercises and flexing their muscles - we dare you!
2. Café Culture: Brunch at Depot🍳☕️
Australian culture revolves around brunch, so fuel up at local favourite Depot, an Aussie brunch icon. Locals live for their eggs, avo toast 🥑, and silky flat whites. Sit street-side and people-watch, you might see a few Aussie famous faces mingling in amongst the locals — Bondi is fashionably casual with a touch of beach bum.
3. Coastal Walk: Bondi to Coogee 🌿👣
Lace up your sneakers and hit the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk — six glorious kilometers of ocean cliffs 🌊, secret rock pools 💎, and stunning beaches. Locals love Tamarama ("Glamarama") for a reason: it’s where Bondi’s beautiful people come to tan ✨🕶️.
4. Lunch with a View: Promenade 🥂
Time to treat yourself. Promenade is brand spanking new and delicious lunch with a view or head away from the beach and into the back of Hall st where every cuisine from every nation resides.
5. Surf’s Up: Bondi Surf School 🏄♀️
Even if you’ve never touched a board, Bondi Surf School will have you riding waves like a pro. The instructors are local legends and the lessons are pure fun. Warning: you will get addicted.
6. Sunset Drinks: Icebergs 🍹
You’ve earned it. Grabbing a cocktail at Bondi Icebergs is iconic — both the sea pool and the restaurant above it. Think oysters on ice, champagne 🥂, and panoramic views of rolling surf. Pro tip: reserve a window seat!
7. Dinner: Don Pedros 🎶🍻
Hip, funky, Mexican dining. Whether you like Margaritas or Mojitos with your Mexican this place is a heady mix with a view.
Local Tip 💡: Skip weekends if you can.
Bondi’s at its best midweek — it’s less packed, the locals are out, and you get a more authentic slice of beachside life 🏖️.
The cliff walks are nothing short of spectacular as you breath in the salty ocean air, the graffiti art on the promenade arrests your attention as you ponder the meaning behind each work of art and multicultural vibe intrigues as you try to guess whether someone is a tourist or indeed just a local who has made Bondi their home. More than just a beach, it’s a state of mind. Come for the surf, stay for the vibes, and leave with sandy feet and a full heart ❤️.
Getting around: Bondi is best enjoyed via train from any of the Sydney train stations then a quick 10 minute bus ride down to the beach from Bondi train station.
Best period to come: Autumn, not too hot (it can get really hot in Bondi in summer) and the water temperature is a mild 22C/71F.
Must pack: Decent walking shoes and a hat for that gorgeous Bondi to Coogee walk
Avoid: If you are having a dip in the ocean stay between the flags and away from the southside (that’s where the backpackers hang out).
Don’t Forget Your Keeko Toothbrush (DFYKT) and maybe our Dream Clean toothpaste too!
